Production

The cheese is named Deauville and is attributed to a square cheese of the family of Pont L’évèque made around this town of Deauville. This cheese is a bit thicker and come from Tourgeville.
The Deauville is made by traditional cheese markers in Boissey (Calvados).

Tasting tips

Pairing cheese and wine

Cheeses of France generally goes well with the wines of the region where they come from. In the case of Deauville, we recommend a red wine from Burgundy such as a Volnay, a Chambolle-Musigny or a Nuits-Saint-Georges.

Our Deauville

The dairy La Houssaye is located in the hills of the Pays d'Auge. It is in the heart of its milk collection area, between the towns of Livarot and Saint Pierre sur Dives. There the prairies are very rich. The grass is thick. And the cows living in the area will give the best quality milk for cheese production.

Did you know that ?

The name of this cheese "Deauville" come from the famous city on the coast of Grace. It contributes to its reputation and some people are more familiar with the Deauville than with Normandy AOC such as Livarot or Pont l'Eveque. The Deauville is however not recognized as an AOC unlike its four Norman Cousins.
